Well, I pissed off Lennar. They are suing for a minimum of $60,000. They want me to come to Florida to answer the charges.
Obviously Lennar wants to forget about freedom of speech issues, protest site issues (they are a protected form of free speech) and they have gone to a great deal of trouble to attempt to violate my civil rights.
Lennar is showing no moral character in this endeavor. They are lying and prevaricating. Hyperbole even. You can read the entire lawsuit at my blog www.lennarhomessuck.wordpress.com Just look for the post titled Lennar Lawsuit, Required Reading.
From the NY Times:
Lennar has home-building operations in 14 states, including California and Florida, the hardest-hit housing markets.
During the quarter, Lennar delivered 3,791 homes, down from 7,636 in the comparable period last year. The sharpest drop occurred in Western markets.
The average sale price of homes delivered fell to $270,000 as the builder cut prices or offered incentives, like discounts matching the $7,500 tax credit for first-time buyers.
Lennar lost value, like most of the rest of the stock market today. With the coming loss of nearly 30% of Lennar’s sales, due to the loss of the ability to fund buyers down payments for FHA loans, I think we can expect further and more significant losses in Lennar’s (LEN) stock value.
On October 1, builders will no longer be able to front the down payment for new home buyers who are using FHA to finance their new home.
How it works or a short lesson of just the basics:
The builder is allowed, under current FHA rules, to "give" the buyer the three percent down payment required to purchase the home through a third party non-profit such as Nehemiah in California. The builder gives the money to Nehemiah, who then "gifts" the funds to the buyer for a small fee that the builder pays to Nehemiah.
J.D. Power and Associates’ New-Home Design Study ranked Beazer Homes USA Inc. (NYSE: BZH) first for the second year in a row with KB Home second and Pulte Homes third. The bottom three on that study include Del Webb Corp. with 718 points, Lennar Corp. (NYSE: LEN) with 705 points and Maronda with 676 points.
I was blind copied on this email Tuesday evening. I ask for and received permission to post it here as long I did not make the writers email address public. I don’t have to say anything, the email speaks volumes. The emphasis on Lennar is mine. The email was addressed to Greg McGuff and Jeff Roos, two of the many presidents that Lennar employs. Sometimes I think they hand the title out like “Shift Manager” at Taco Bell.
Below the first email you will find my exchange with Mr. Mackenzie.
Mr. McGuff,
I was trying to role play what tactic Lennar might attempt to employ in trying to silence or discredit me. I began to hunt around the internet and found this article in the Wall Street Journal.

Now I don't have the money this gentleman has to battle them in court. I will show up and represent myself should it come to that, but,on my side of such a battle would be the issue of a huge corporation picking on little ole' me. Nothing like a little public sentiment on your side. I will be out again today at a Lennar community chosen at random. At my blog, http://tinyurl.comlennarhomessuck , a couple of the comments tell me I am having a positive effect with my picketing. Or a negative effect if you are looking at it from the Lennar point of view.
September 4, 2008
Gentleman,
Today, September 4, 2008, I spent three hours outside your Corona office on Main Street. I know that you know this and I am not breaking any news here. But, I have a question. Why did you have three women come outside and photograph me?
Everything that Lennar touches seems to have controversy attached to it.
In San Diego they were apparently paying a government employee for "work" she did for them years earlier. She did the "work" in 2005 yet Lennar was still paying her in 2007.
Hi. My name is Carl Grossman. I have been invited to blog here. I run my own website, LennarHomesSuck.net. Here I am going to focus my first couple of posts on some things that I believe Lennar would like to stay as bottled up as possible.
Today, or tonight really, I want to share some tidbits from the left coast concerning Lennar Corp. They have their share of trouble everywhere that they do business. In the San Francisco Bay Area Lennar has managed to create MORE than their share of trouble.
