Lennar Defects web presence

November 26, 2008 by mike

I am happy to say Lennar Defects has moved upwards on google's search ranking to number 13 for the keyword search of "Lennar". Our content in the last couple of months has exploded into a Lennar smorgasbord of goodies for everyone. We are moving up in a manner that would make George Jefferson proud.

Most recent interesting keyword search: "Where’s the Wow? Dr. Stu, Lennar Associates"

Looking further into this search I found this segment

"Under Leonard Miller the company was a smaller, more conservative operation. After Stuart became CEO in 1997, the company took off along with the real estate boom.

It was also Stuart who crafted the Lennar culture, made up of common rituals and references that aim to bind employees to each other and the company.

A television network communicates the Lennar Way across the company's various offices. Employees wear outsized name badges with no titles so everyone refers to each other by name -- an idea Miller picked up after visiting Disney World. And workers are encouraged to read Dr. Seuss' Oh, the Places You'll Go and Yertle the Turtle, children's books with fables about potential and power.

Miller, 49, has even authored his own versions: Where's the Wow? and Where's the How? by an author called ''Dr. Steuss,'' a combination of Stuart and Seuss. The books come complete with peel-and-stick labels.

Then, of course, there is the moment when an associate -- and Lennar insists on that term -- recites Scratchings From The Little Red Hen in the office lobby on Fridays. The audience chants encouragement, shouting ''Bring it home!'' Many Fridays, employees also gather to listen to the song Trashin' the Camp from Tarzan.

''People may say it is childlike, more like Romper Room than the boardroom. But it builds comraderie and kinship,'' said Miller.

He turns serious, in what is perhaps both a sign of the times and an emphasis on the reason behind the rituals.

''Make no mistake, this is an intensely corporate environment,'' said Miller, who noted that sales and work are monitored daily. ``We run a rigorous day-to-day program.''

The company has morning and evening meetings where it goes over everything from sales and cancellations to progress on work sites. Big screens in Miller's office and in the conference rooms display the real-time stock tickers of Lennar and all its competitors to remind employees of how the company is doing on Wall Street.

Miller, a graduate of Harvard and the University of Miami's law school, has worked at Lennar his entire professional life. In 2005, he made $31.9 million in salary and bonus.

Despite the almost hokey comraderie he has brought to the company, he is known as a stickler for detail and discipline. He also prides himself on being an everyday sort of guy, who walks around and talks to everyone from the cleaners to the latest employees fresh out of business school."

After reading that segment you have to read what the Lennar employees are saying when given opportunity to communicate their thoughts and be published without bias.

Professional Supervision

Lennar hires the cheapest suppliers , subcontractors and supervisors. I have been in the industry for over 40 years and am appalled by the lack of professionalism and quality control that is employed by such a large company. When I purchased my new home I expected more, you see I use to work for US Homes and we were taught that to get the job done right you must buy right. But buying right does not mean that you have to send contractors back (3) or (4) times to correct an item. If supervised correctly the first time; you have satisfied home owners , contractors, and employees. Remember (1) one satisfied home owner will generate up to (4) home sales, while (1) dissatisfied home owner will discourage (100) future sales.
I have an out side faucet with no shut off, ceramic flooring that keeps on loosing up. Make sure you check the paint on your doors. If all (6) sides , yes (6) that means all edges aren't painted the door manufactures will not guarantee your doors from warping. If your HVAC condensation line is not extended away from your home you can have what is known as a wicking problem. This simply means that the condensation is being absorbed back into the wall cavity of your home promoting mold and decay that you can not see. When I brought this up to the "Zero defect Team" at Lennar they refused to do anything about it. I had to go to the City building department to get it resolved.
Good luck

I agree with you 100 percent. We rented in our comunity while our home and others went up. We watched as they would bulid it and rip it down put it in and take it out. We had three different roofing shingles on our home till they finally got it right. Walls were crooked right from the start but they still sheet rocked, spackled, painted, added the moulding, laid down the floor and spent days deciding how to fix it at this stage. The wall still isn't right.. but ok for industry standards. Who set these standards? I don' t understand how this is cost effective. I will no longer encourage people to buy here.
